The world is full of all different types of snobs: wine snobs, car snobs, bean snobs, the French. I have recently procured a taste for a certain type of fruit here in India; I am now a mango snob.
I am starting to learn the difference between the many different types of mangoes that are available here, and to develop a knack for picking out the perfectly not-quite-ripe state.
There are the yellow ones, the yellow- green ones, the green-yellow ones, and the practically perfect all-green ones. I don't know what any of the different types are called, but I can now notice the huge differences in their flavour. A mango is not just a mango. I am a snob.
