Drink in moderation

Our professors gathered today to finalise our grades in a process that was referred to as "moderation." The exact quote: "The professors all gathered in the committee room today to moderate our grades." Apparently, this consisted of the four of them sitting around and discussing what grades each GSP student deserved. Keeping in mind that professor Kumar only received our collective 1400 pages of exams and term papers three or four days ago, this was certainly an impressive feat.

Nothing here occurs at face-value. I'm not worried about my grades. I did piss-poor work on some of the papers, and I hardly read anything for some of my courses, but I kept below the radar and didn't piss anybody off too badly. Apparently that's what it takes to succeed in Indian academia.

Good to know that the work that I did spend some time on was carefully read and thoughtfully considered. Hah.
