First impressions

So, now I've had a chance to meet some of the other students in my program, and I can offer some first impressions of what to expect the next two years. There are some things that I hadn't taken into consideration before that are just occurring to me now.

The first thing that I realized is that there will likely be some very complex situations that arise from the merging of 30 different personalities and backgrounds. For instance, the topic of religion was already broached last night. I cannot even imagine the broad range of beliefs that will be brought together and debated, at least informally.

I am guessing that we will all have some lessons to learn, and even if I only learn a little bit about each of the countries represented by my colleagues I will leave with much more than I have now. I'm looking forward to many of these lessons in the very near future.
