The fall of Friendster

I'm declaring an era officially over. The time: social-network-websites.

I used to log on daily to see if any developments had been posted on my Bulletin Board, but now the only thing Friendster is good for is wasting a ton of time clicking and waiting for nothing to happen. I posted that I was leaving for Germany, but I don't think any of my 20 "friends" have even logged on to see the message.

It all peaked when I had Martha Stewart added to my friends list and she felt compelled to post messages about home and garden care on her BB. That quickly died when the head honchos put the kabash on celebrity impersonator profiles. Argh.

I'll still peek in to check out the landscape, and Friendster is promising a facelift in the coming months, but I don't see it going anywhere. The time has passed. Too bad, there was definitely potential.
