I can only strive

The work week can often be draining, and it usually takes a little bait to get me through it unscathed. There is one thing that I've found keeps me going regularly, and gives me yet another reason to look forward to Friday: Web Zen. It's updated every week with wonderful links to the most random amusements. Themes change weekly.

This week's theme was architecture, and one of the links was particularly amazing. As I'm trying to develop an eye for good web design I couldn't help but notice the Celluloid Skyline. The Flash animation intro is impressive enough, but poke around the site a bit and the magic really begins. For example, the "mouse-over captions" on many of the pictures is amazing, as well as the "night-and-day" transformations. Did you know that the mast on top of the Empire State Building was originally intended for mooring dirgibles and disembarking European passengers? The observation deck was first designed as a waiting lounge! Who knew?
